Abstract

Waste management issues in Boyolali Regency, particularly at the Winong Final Processing Site (TPA), have become an urgent issue due to limited storage capacity and suboptimal waste sorting and processing. Reliance on open dumping systems has led to increased environmental pollution and a decline in the quality of life for surrounding communities. This study aims to design a more effective and sustainable development of the Winong FDS by applying the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and a sustainable architectural approach. The methods used include literature review, field observation, analysis of primary and secondary data, and comparative studies with FDSs that have implemented integrated management systems. The design results in functional zoning, including administrative management areas, waste processing areas, education and training areas, and green open spaces. Supporting facilities include waste sorting units, composting areas, maggot farming, recycling machines, creative educational spaces, and interactive gardens. Sustainable architectural approaches are realized through the use of natural lighting and ventilation, recycled materials, rainwater harvesting systems, and solar panel installations as an alternative energy source. This design is expected to serve as an integrated solution to waste management issues while driving the transformation of the landfill into a center for education and innovation in waste management in the region.
