Abstract

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is a useful protocol for reducing the stress response due to surgery and speeding up the recovery process. The ERAS protocol has been widely used in various types of surgery and has been proven to provide benefits for patients. However, in-depth scientific evidence regarding cost analysis of the application of ERAS in the field of urology is still limited. This study aims to analyze the benefits of implementing the ERAS protocol by comparing the length of treatment and treatment costs between groups that use ERAS and those that do not. This study uses a quasi-experimental research design which aims to measure the impact of implementing the Early Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol on health service costs and length of stay (LOS) in patients undergoing urological surgery. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, namely selecting samples based on certain criteria, namely patients who underwent urological surgery during a predetermined period and met the research inclusion criteria. The research results show that the application of the ERAS protocol provides benefits in operations in the field of urology, by reducing the length of patient stay and optimizing the use of hospital health service resources. Hospital care costs in the group of patients using the ERAS protocol were lower compared to the group not using ERAS.
