Abstract

The standardization of the Tegalwaton Horse Racing Arena, located in Tengaran District, Semarang Regency, plays an important role in supporting equestrian sports activities at the local and national levels. This arena is not only a sports facility, but also has the potential to become an attractive sports tourism destination. However, some of the facilities currently available are still limited and require improvement to meet national standards. This study aims to design a standardized horse racing arena by providing adequate main and supporting facilities, and applying the concept of Structure as Aesthetics, which emphasizes visual beauty through the use of a space frame structure in the spectator stands building. The methods used in this study include observation to identify existing conditions and problems at the location, literature studies, and data analysis to identify development needs. The development of facilities, such as spectator stands, adequate parking areas, and supporting facilities in the form of training and recreational equestrian performances are much needed at the racetrack. With this standardization, the Tegalwaton Horse Racing Arena is expected to facilitate national-scale equestrian sports competitions, attract more visitors, and increase public interest in equestrian sports by applying the concept of Structure as Aesthetics to improve the structural function and beauty of the building.
