Abstract
The Type B Bus Terminal in Purwodadi serves a strategic role as a major land transportation hub in Grobogan Regency, accommodating intercity, inter-provincial, urban, and rural transportation routes. However, the current condition of the terminal reveals numerous deficiencies, including outdated infrastructure, inadequate public facilities, disorganized circulation for both vehicles and pedestrians, and poor environmental quality within the terminal area. One of the most critical concerns is the high level of air pollution resulting from dense vehicular activity, which directly and indirectly affects the comfort and long-term health of terminal users. To address these issues, this research proposes a redesign of the Purwodadi Type B Bus Terminal using the Green Terminal approach, which incorporates green architecture principles. This approach focuses on creating an environmentally friendly design that promotes energy efficiency, health, and user comfort. Key design strategies include optimizing natural lighting, implementing cross-ventilation systems for improved air circulation, providing green open spaces to reduce pollution, utilizing eco-friendly building materials, and separating pedestrian and vehicle pathways to minimize pollution exposure and potential accidents. Furthermore, the redesign incorporates modern technologies such as digital information systems to improve service quality and accessibility for passengers. The methodology employed in this research includes literature reviews, site observations, documentation, and space requirement analysis based on architectural standards and national regulations. The proposed redesign not only addresses the functional and technical problems of the terminal but also provides sustainable solutions to the environmental and social challenges present in the area. It is expected that this redesigned terminal will serve as a healthier, more comfortable, and efficient transportation facility, as well as a model for sustainable terminal design across the region.
