Abstract

The waste management issue in Pemalang Regency has become increasingly complex in line with population growth and economic activities, resulting in overcapacity at the Pesalakan Final Disposal Site (TPA). The conventional waste management system, with minimal technological integration, has further exacerbated environmental degradation. Therefore, an innovative and sustainable solution is required to address these challenges. This report presents the design of a waste management facility based on Waste-toEnergy (WtE) technology through an Eco-Friendly Architecture approach as an integrated solution. The design focuses on utilizing incineration technology to convert waste into electrical energy while incorporating environmentally friendly principles into the architectural concept. This approach includes the application of passive design strategies, the use of sustainable local materials, and site and spatial planning that promote energy efficiency and user comfort. The study was conducted through literature review, precedent studies, and direct observation at the Pesalakan Final Disposal Site. The outcome is a conceptual design for a WtE facility that not only addresses technical waste management and energy crisis issues but also provides educational and ecological spaces for the community. Through this design, the facility is expected to support Pemalang in becoming a clean, energy-independent, and environmentally sustainable city.
