Abstract
The Setono Pekalongan Batik Wholesale Market is one of the largest batik trading centers in the city of Pekalongan. However, with the passage of time and the increasing use of online shopping platforms, this market has experienced a significant decline in visitor numbers. The physical condition of the building, which is not representative, the lack of supporting facilities, and the suboptimal utilization of batik cultural potential are the main issues in the redesign of this market. The objective of this redesign is to integrate commercial functions with creative tourism elements to attract visitors and preserve local culture. The design concept employs traditional architecture, Islamic architecture, and sustainability principles based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The design process was carried out through stages of observation, post-occupancy evaluation (EPH), literature review, and discussions with the supervising lecturer. The design outcomes include the development of a more organized spatial zoning, optimization of lighting and air circulation, and the provision of educational facilities such as batik workshop spaces, a batik gallery, and an audio-visual room. This redesign is expected to transform the Setono Batik Wholesale Market not only into a functional trading center but also into an educational, inclusive, and sustainable cultural tourism destination.
