Abstract
In the field of education, children with special needs require a learning environment that supports both their physical and psychological development. In Mojolaban District, there is one private Special School (Sekolah Luar Biasa/SLB), namely SLB Tuna Rungu Wicara dan Tuna Grahita Bina Insan Mandiri, located in Dukuh Kemplong RT 02/VI, Cangkol Village. This school provides education equivalent to elementary, junior high, and senior high levels for children with special needs. Based on existing data, there are a total of 13,937 students with special needs in Mojolaban, consisting of 6,929 male and 7,008 female students. This number highlights the importance of providing appropriate educational facilities tailored to their unique needs. This research aims to enhance and complete educational and learning facilities that accommodate the needs of children with special needs while meeting applicable standards. The redesign focuses on creating a layout that considers zoning and circulation, integrates visual cues as spatial markers, and features flexible spatial arrangements, controlled acoustics, and adequate natural lighting to ensure comfort and support for the users. The methodology used includes literature studies, data collection techniques, precedent studies, and analytical methods. The result of this design demonstrates that SLB can be further developed into a more comfortable and safe learning environment that complies with national standards for children with special needs. Through a behavioral architecture approach, the proposed design aims to produce a high-quality educational environment that supports the growth, development, and independence of its students.
