Abstract

Islamic Modern Boarding High School, as an Islamic boarding school-based educational institution, faces the challenge of environmental sustainability and the need for a relevant, modern education system. This study aims to integrate the Urban Circular concept into the design of a modern Islamic school in Ploso, Pacitan, to create an environmentally friendly, efficient, and spiritual learning environment. The Urban Circular concept offers an architectural design approach that prioritizes energy efficiency, waste management, the use of environmentally friendly local materials, and the integration of educational green spaces. The methods used in this study include literature studies, site analysis, and the formulation of a sustainability-based architectural design strategy. The result of this study is a conceptual design for an Islamic Modern Boarding High School that is adaptive to the local climate and geographical conditions, and is able to empower the local economy through Islamic boarding school cooperatives and sustainable production activities. It is hoped that this design can serve as a model for the development of Islamic educational institutions that are aligned with religious values and modern ecological principles.
