Abstract
High vehicle mobility in Wonogiri Regency, especially as a connecting route between tourist areas and between provinces, causes high traffic density and increases the risk of accidents. The need for rest facilities is urgent, referring to Article 90 Paragraph 3 of Law No. 22 of 2009 which regulates the obligation of drivers to rest after four hours of driving. On the other hand, the former Giri Adipura Main Terminal, which has been deactivated since 2015, has experienced a significant decline in function, making it a passive area that triggers the emergence of various social problems such as crime, illegal prostitution, illegal trade and uncontrolled use of space by marginalized groups. The non-optimization of the area raises the urgency of transforming the function of space that is more adaptive and safe. This research designed the optimization of the former Giri Adipura Main Terminal into a type B rest area with a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) approach. The problem raised is how to design the area with the integration of rest area regulation standards from the Ministry of Transportation and CPTED principles, in order to create a safe, comfortable, and relaxing public space. The purpose of this study is to formulate spatial design strategies based on CPTED principles, including natural surveillance, natural access control, territorial strengthening, and area management and maintenance. The design objectives include the development of standardized functional zoning, the integration of efficient vehicle and pedestrian circulation, and the provision of user-friendly support facilities with minimal crime risk.
