Abstract
Infrastructure development in Indonesia, especially in the northern coastal region of Central Java, has undergone significant improvement and modernization. This infrastructure faces unique challenges in its construction due to its direct interaction with the properties of seawater. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of varying percentages of polycarboxylate superplasticizer on concrete substituted with silica fume and quartz sand as an additive in concrete exposed to chloride. Using superplasticizer polycarboxylate percentages of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% with silica fume substitution of 15% and quartz sand additive of 5% in 28-day-old concrete. This study used cylindrical test specimens with a diameter of 10 cm and a height of 20 cm in height. The concrete mix design was prepared using the SNI 03-2834-2000 method. The concrete testing was conducted using compressive strength and permeability tests. The results of the study indicate that polycarboxylate superplasticizer, silica fume, and quartz sand can enhance the compressive strength of concrete and reduce the permeability value of concrete with a polycarboxylate superplasticizer polycarboxylate superplasticizer at 1.5%. The combined use of polycarboxylate superplasticizer, silica fume, and quartz sand is effective in enhancing concrete strength and resistance to chloride attack in coastal areas or seawater environments
