Abstract

Bonsai plants are ornamental plants with unique shapes and charming appeal, making them popular among many collectors. In addition, bonsai plants also have high commercial value because they can survive for hundreds of years if properly cared for. Bonsai plant care includes repotting, watering, fertilizing, and pruning. The watering process significantly affects soil moisture, as soil moisture is one of the environmental factors influencing soil biology. Furthermore, bonsai plants require optimal temperature, air humidity, and soil pH for their growth. This study utilizes the Internet of Things (IoT) to monitor soil moisture, temperature, air humidity, and is equipped with a soil pH meter, as well as automatically controlling devices such as watering pumps and fertilizer pumps. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller, the Blynk application, and a spreadsheet website to store data generated by the sensors. This study focuses on observing and collecting data from soil moisture, temperature, air humidity, and soil pH sensors. The results of the DHT22 sensor test showed a temperature error percentage of 4%, an air humidity error percentage of 8%, and the soil moisture sensor classification was the same as that of the comparison tool, the soil pH analyzer. The results of testing the soil pH sensor in pot 1 showed an error percentage of 9,86%, the results of testing the soil pH sensor in pot 2 showed an error percentage of 9,62%, and the results of testing the soil pH sensor in pot 3 showed an error percentage of 10,35%. The field test results over four days showed that the system operated as expected; when the soil moisture sensor detected a value of 52%, the water pump activated.
