Abstract
Instagram second accounts are often used as private spaces for more authentic selfexpression, free from the pressures of social judgment, where the level of trust in selectively chosen followers plays a crucial role in self-disclosure. This study aims to explore the dynamics of interpersonal trust in self-disclosure among users of Instagram second accounts. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, utilizing semistructured interviews, and data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The study involved three participants (two males and one female), aged between 21 and 23 years, selected through purposive sampling based on criteria such as actively sharing personal information on their second accounts in the past three months and having followers comprised of close friends or trusted individuals. The findings revealed three main themes, (1) Initial Trust, which is established through mutual relationships, intimacy, and support from followers; (2) Trust Maintenance, characterized by authenticity and self-representation while maintaining control over the privacy of shared content; and (3) Trust Evaluation, involving emotional dynamics that reflect the ongoing assessment of trust management. Thus, the process of building interpersonal trust in self-disclosure on second accounts is not linear but forms an adaptive cycle. Initial Trust enables openness, Trust Maintenance sustains trust stability, and Trust Evaluation serves as a point of reflection that influences future trust decisions. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the vital role trust plays in self-disclosure practices within private social media spaces
