Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between fear of missing out (FOMO) and self-control on impulsive buying among university students who use paylater services. The subjects were 97 active students aged 18–25 years, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using FOMO, self-control, and impulsive buying scales. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression. The results showed a significant relationship between FOMO and self-control with impulsive buying behavior (R = 0.644; sig. < 0.05). FOMO was found to have a significant positive relationship with impulsive buying, while self-control had a significant negative relationship. The effective contribution of FOMO to impulsive buying was greater than that of self-control. These findings indicate that FOMO has a more dominant influence than self-control on impulsive buying behavior among paylater user students. Keywords: impulsive buying, fear of missing out, FOMO, self-control, paylater
