Abstract

Student Engagement refers to the level of students’ involvement in the learning process, which includes behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and proactive engagement in academic activities within the school environment. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between social support and goal orientation with student engagement. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The sample consisted of 166 students selected using convience sampling from XI grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Pekalongan. Data were collected using psychological scales measuring social support, goal orientation, and student engagement. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed a significant positive effect of social support and goal orientation on student engagement, with R² = 38,3% and a significance value of 0,000 (p < 0,01). Partially, social support contributed 19,66%, while goal orientation contributed 18,64%. These findings indicate that the higher their student engagement. The implications of this study suggest the importance of supporting teachers and educational institutions in creating a positive learning environment and implementing programs that foster students’ learning goal-setting.
