Abstract
Gambling is a form of crime that has long existed in society and is now developing in a new form, namely online gambling. This phenomenon is increasingly worrying because it targets teenagers who are psychologically vulnerable and easily influenced. Although it has been regulated in Law No. 1 of 2024 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions, in reality the practice of online gambling is still rampant. This study aims to determine the enforcement of the law on online gambling crimes in terms of the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions, to understand the legal protection of teenagers as victims and perpetrators of online gambling crimes, and the sanctions for online gambling crimes according to the perspective of Islamic criminal law. The method used in this study is a normative descriptive qualitative approach through literature studies and analysis of applicable policies. The results of the study show that existing policies are still not optimal in preventing and overcoming online gambling practices among teenagers, especially due to weak digital supervision and lack of legal education for the younger generation, which requires more comprehensive, integrative policies, and cross-sector cooperation to protect teenagers from the dangers of online gambling. Islamic criminal law, gambling (maysir) is considered an act that is forbidden and strictly prohibited. The judge is given the freedom to impose sanctions in accordance with the ta'zir approach.
