Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between body image and parenting patterns with self-confidence in students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method with data collection using a google form with an accidental sampling technique with the criteria of students of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, Faculty of Psychology, Class of 2018 - 2022, aged 18 - 24 years. The sample in the study was 81 respondents. The measuring instruments used in this study were the self-confidence scale, body image scale and parenting pattern scale. The data analysis used was multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS. The results of the analysis showed a correlation (r) = 0.750 and a sig. (1 tailed) = 0.000. Which means there is a very significant relationship between body image and parenting patterns with self-confidence in students. The body image variable with self-confidence shows that the correlation value (r) = 0.628 and the sig. = 0.000, which means there is a positive and very significant relationship between body image and self-confidence, so the higher the body image, the higher the self-confidence. In the variable of parenting patterns with self-confidence, the correlation value (r) = 0.661 and sig. = 0.000, which means that there is a positive and very significant relationship between parenting patterns and self-confidence, so the better the parenting patterns, the higher the self-confidence
