Abstract

Bioethanol is ethanol that can be produced from raw materials containing sugars or compounds that can be converted into sugars, such as starch and cellulose. This study aims to determine the effects of temperature, pH, time, and enzyme concentration on the hydrolysis process of aren flour waste as an effort to produce bioethanol more efficiently. Aren flour waste was selected due to its high glucose potential after enzymatic hydrolysis.The cellulase enzyme was obtained from Aspergillus niger and tested for its activity under varying temperatures and pH levels. The hydrolysis process was conducted with variations in time (2–72 hours) and enzyme concentrations (0.5–3 mL). The results showed that the optimum hydrolysis conditions were achieved at a temperature of 50℃, pH 5, a duration of 24 hours, and an enzyme concentration of 3 mL. This study demonstrates the potential of aren flour waste as a renewable raw material for environmentally friendly bioethanol production.
