Abstract

The use of electronic devices such as mobile phones and laptops is inseparable from daily life, and both devices require electrical power to operate. The need for electrical charging in public places is very high, especially for users who engage in outdoor activities. The government also supports the existence of electric vehicles as a means of transportation that requires electric charging stations as supporting facilities for battery charging. Therefore, this research aims to develop a coin sensor-based public electric charging system to access two electrical outlets for power charging that can be used simultaneously. The system is also integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT) as a remote performance monitoring system. This system uses a PZEM-004T sensor as a measuring instrument for charging duration and provides electrical information such as voltage, current, power, and energy. The ESP32 is used as the main controller of the entire system, allowing system owners to perform remote monitoring through the Thinger.io application, while users can monitor directly through an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen. This research also includes calculations to determine the error value and accuracy value of PZEM-004T sensor readings. System 1 achieved an average power accuracy of 96,0% and energy accuracy of 99,03%. System 2 achieved an average power accuracy of 97,1% and energy accuracy of 91,3%. The SSR (Solid State Relay) in both System 1 and System 2 functioned according to the initial design, which is to disconnect when the PZEM-004T sensor reads current below 0,05A or when energy has reached the purchased kWh limit.
