Abstract
This research discusses the forms of discourse markers, namely cohesion and coherence in the April 2024 edition of Koran Tempo. This research aims to describe the forms of grammatical and lexical cohesion markers as well as marked and unmarked coherence markers, and describe the relevance of cohesion and coherence of the April 2024 edition of Tempo Newspaper's political column to the learning of news texts in class VIII of junior high school. The type of research applied in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data collected in this study are data in the form of cohesion and coherence. Read-note technique is a technique used to collect data in this research. Triangulation technique is used in this research to test the validity of the collected data. Distribution technique and BUL approach are applied as techniques to analyze the data in this research. The findings of this study are in the form of cohesion and coherence markers consisting of 196 data. Coherence and cohesion of Tempo Newspaper April 2024 edition can be used to make Indonesian language learning resources at junior high school level. The results showed the use of grammatical cohesion as much as 79 data, lexical cohesion as much as 26 data, marked coherence as much as 17 data, and unmarked coherence as much as 2. The conclusion of this research is in releasing cohesion and coherence learning, namely by utilizing news text discourse on the National Headline of Tempo Newspaper. The news text presented shows the effective and structured use of cohesion and coherence in its writing. And in line with the applicable Basic Competencies, namely 4.2 Present data and information in the form of news orally and in writing by paying attention to linguistic structures or oral aspects.
