Abstract

Teachers in the context of education have a meaningful and strategic role. This is because teachers are at the forefront of the implementation of education. Therefore, it is appropriate for teachers to have various competencies related to their duties and responsibilities. The role of teachers is very necessary in shaping the character of students, therefore teachers in every learning are advised to convey moral messages that build enthusiasm and change the bad behavior of students. Such as telling stories of the example of the prophets and apostles of Allah. It can also be done by applying memorization of short verses and prayers in daily activities. This study aims to describe the Contribution of PAI Teachers in the Formation of Religious Character of Grade VII Students at SMP Negeri 1 Teras for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. This research is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive phenomenological approach which aims to describe the theory based on field data. The data collection uses interview, observation and documentation methods. The results obtained in this study are in the form of contributions that are reflected through the habituation of religious activities, including praying before learning, murojaah Al-Qur'an juz 30, reading Asmaul Husna, congregational Zuhur prayers, and BTA (Learning to Write the Qur'an). Each activity is carried out regularly to form positive habits in students. In addition, supporting and inhibiting factors in the formation of religious character are also analyzed. Supporting factors include the role of exemplary teachers, family support, and a conducive environment, while the main inhibiting factors are lack of parental attention and limited learning time. It is hoped that by overcoming these obstacles, the habituation of religious character at SMP Negeri 1 Teras can run more optimally.
