Abstract
The anxiety experienced by families of patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is often a significant concern due to the patient's critical condition and the stressful environment. Nurses' caring behavior plays an important role in providing comfort and psychological support to patients' families. This study aims to analyze the relationship between nurses' caring behavior and the anxiety levels of patients' families in the ICU at Sukoharjo Regional General Hospital (RSUD Sukoharjo). This research employs a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consists of 60 family members of ICU patients, selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires assessing nurses’ caring behavior and the anxiety levels of the patients' families. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test, which showed a significant relationship between nurses' caring behavior and family anxiety levels in the ICU (p = 0.00, which is less than α = 0.05). The study concludes that caring behavior not only provides the emotional support needed by the patients' families but also helps create a calmer and more supportive environment.
