Abstract
Students are individuals who are currently undertaking and pursuing education at a higher education institution. During their study period, students will be faced with the task of writing a thesis. In fact, quite a number of students face various obstacles during the thesis writing process that ultimately lead to stress conditions. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between peer social support and psychological well-being with student stress. The method used in this study is a correlational quantitative approach, utilizing questionnaires from the peer social support scale, psychological well-being, and stress, with a cluster random sampling technique. The sample for this study consists of students from the Faculty of Law, Pharmacy, Engineering, and Psychology at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta who are in the process of writing their thesis. The data analysis employed is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate an F value of (79.777) and a significance value (0.000 < 0.05), showing a significant relationship between peer social support and psychological well-being with stress. The R-Square value (0.555) indicates that 55.5% of the stress variable can be explained by the peer social support and psychological well-being variables. There is a correlation of (-0.554) with a significance value (0.043 < 0.05) for the peer social support variable with stress, and (-0.735) with a significance value (0.000 < 0.05) for the psychological well-being variable with stress. It can be concluded from this study that the variables of peer social support and psychological well-being have a significant negative relationship with stress, meaning that the higher the level of peer social support and individual psychological well-being, the lower the level of stress.
