Abstract

This study analyzes the persuasive message of the smoking cessation campaign on the Instagram account @suara_tanpa_rokok which is a community movement that voices the smoking cessation campaign on Instagram social media. The purpose of this study is to explore the representation of meaning contained in the persuasive message. This study uses a descriptive qualitative type, the paradigm in this study is a critical paradigm with data collection techniques for documentation studies and literature studies. Validity testing in the study uses triangulation of data sources. Primary data is taken from the Instagram poster post @suara_tanpa_rokok, secondary data is taken from literature studies such as articles, books, journals, and others. This study uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis technique. This study produces the meaning of the persuasive message contained in the Instagram poster @suara_tanpa_rokok, the signs that emerge from the message are based on threats, humanity, and criticism of cigarette sales. Of the three bases that appear in the persuasive message are related to socio-cultural relations in the lives of people in Indonesia.
