Abstract

This research was conducted to develop a home door lock system that integrates face detection using the Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) method and RFID cards. This home door access system is designed to increase user security and comfort. Raspberry Pi 5 is used as the main device that runs the face detection process with the LBPH method, which functions to match user face data with a registered dataset. After the face is identified, the Raspberry Pi will communicate with the ESP32 via a USB cable to read the RFID card. ESP32 acts as an RFID card reader as well as a relay controller connected to the door lock mechanism. If the read RFID card is registered in the system, the relay will be activated to open the door. Face detection testing using the LBPH method shows an accuracy rate of 75%, precision of 73.5%, sensitivity of 83.3%, and specificity of 70%. The system distance to detect and recognize faces optimally is in the range of 0.5 m to 1.5 m. Meanwhile, the RFID reading test shows the fastest response time of 0.28 seconds and the longest of 0.45 seconds. The RFID reader used can detect cards at a distance of 0.5 cm to 1.5 cm. The final results of the research prove that the door lock system developed is able to work properly.
