Abstract

Generation Z has grown up in the digital era with unlimited internet access. Their internet usage is influenced by both positive and negative factors, and excessive use can lead to addiction. This addiction may cause imbalances in various aspects of life, including social interactions, academics, work, health, and finances. This study aims to explore the views of teachers and students from the Islamic Religious Education perspective in overcoming internet addiction disorders in generation Z. This research is a qualitative research with data sources from Islamic Religious Education teachers of Muhammadiyah Al-Kautsar Junior High School Special Program (PK) and Islamic Religious Education students of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The data collection methods used are interviews, observations, and documentation. The technical data analysis used is data reduction, data presentation, and ends with a conclusion. The results of this study show that the factors that make Generation Z vulnerable to the internet are internal factors in the form of escape from social discomfort, low self-control and time management, as well as the absence of other activity options. Meanwhile, external factors are in the form of adequate facilities and lack of supervision from older people. Teachers and students of Islamic Religious Education emphasized the importance of Islamic values in building self-awareness, strengthening spirituality, and instilling moral discipline in the use of technology. Pendidikan Agama Islam berperan sebagai sarana penanaman akhlak, time management, as well as the development of balanced Islamic character in facing the digital era. Collaboration between educators and families is also very important in creating a responsible digital generation based on Islamic values.
