Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease that can cause complications and reduce the quality of life of sufferers. Complications caused by Diabates Mellitus problems can be prevented and managed with the help of self care management which influenced by several factors, one of those is self efficacy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self efficacy and self care management in Diabetes Mellitus sefferers at the Kartasura Health Center Working Area. This study is a quantitative, observational study with a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 206 respondents who are obtained using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done using instruments in the form of queationnaires. The results showed that there was a relationship between self efficacy and self care management of the patient’s life with Diabetes Mellitus in the Kartasura Health Center Working Area (p-value = 0,015). The conclusion from the research results is that self-efficacy affects the self-management of the patients. It is recommended that the family and close relatives of the DM patient support the patient in building their self-confidence in order to maintain the patient's already good self-care management.
