Abstract
The short story “Hidung” by Ahmadun Yosi Herfanda and Lilik Fatimah Az-zahra is interesting to analyze because it raises the issue of beauty that is relevant to junior high and high school students who are searching for their identity. The method used is qualitative research with an intertextual approach and descriptive results, with data collected through content analysis, reading notes, documentation, and interviews with teachers and students at SMK N 6 Surakarta and SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sragen. The validity of the data uses the method triangulation technique to ensure the validity of the research results. The data analysis technique uses a triangulation study with a structural approach. The results of the study include an analysis of the intrinsic elements of both short stories, a comparison between the two, and relevance as teaching materials in high school. The conclusion shows that both short stories have similarities in the title, characters, plot, message, setting, and point of view, while differences are found in the characters, climax, resolution, language style, and setting. Intertextual analysis techniques were used to identify intrinsic elements and compare the two short stories, which were then linked to the fictional text appreciation material in the Merdeka Curriculum Phase F. The results of the study showed that both short stories are relevant for literature learning in high school, especially in discussing the lives of teenage girls who are searching for their identity
