Abstract

This study examines spelling, punctuation, and affix errors in the Indonesian language, focusing on the signage of business establishments. The findings indicate that many errors occur due to a lack of understanding of the rules established in the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI) and the Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI). Identified spelling errors include the use of non-standard words, inconsistent capitalization, and incorrect word separation. Additionally, punctuation errors such as unnecessary spaces and incorrect hyphenation were also noted. Errors in the use of affixes, such as the separation of words that should be connected, are also a concern. This research emphasizes the importance of understanding spelling and punctuation rules in Indonesian language learning, particularly in writing descriptive texts. Proposed learning strategies include practical exercises, text analysis, group activities, and creative projects aimed at enhancing students' writing skills. By implementing these strategies, it is hoped that students can reduce writing errors and improve their overall language proficiency.
