Abstract

The problem of stunting in Indonesia, especially in rural areas, is still quite high, the long-term impact on children who are stunted will cause reduced cognitive and motor development in children. In the end, stunting will generally hamper economic growth, increase poverty and widen inequality. Therefore, an effective stunting prevention strategy in rural areas is very necessary. The aim of this research is to determine the stakeholders involved, sources of funds, type of response (specific or sensitive interventions), targets, supporting factors and obstacles in implementing stunting prevention strategies in rural areas. The method used in this research is a literature review with published articles originating from the Pubmed, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar databases, with publication years between 2018 and 2022. The keywords used in Indonesian and English were developed using the PICO method, as well as combining several keywords and using Boolean operators (AND, OR, and quotation marks). Inclusion criteria include the dependent variable of stunting prevention strategies in rural areas, articles studied can be articles that use quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods, articles according to the topic to be researched, articles published in the 2013-2023 period, articles in Indonesian or English. Exclusion criteria include articles that are not relevant to the topic, research locations in urban areas, articles that do not contain stunting prevention strategies, research articles that cannot be accessed in full, and are literature review articles. Based on a search of seven articles on strategies for dealing with stunting in rural areas, there are still several articles that have not been implemented effectively due to the lack of human resources, financial resources and infrastructure. Apart from that, there are challenges and obstacles that often appear in the articles studied, such as a lack of participation from the community. Therefore, there is a need for cooperation between stakeholders and health workers. The conclusion of this research is that stunting prevention strategies in rural areas are important to implement by paying attention to existing challenges and obstacles.
