Abstract
The Qur'an not only serves as a guide to life, but also conveys divine messages through various methods, one of which is the use of color symbols. Colors in the Qur'an are not just visual elements, but have symbolic messages that reflect various aspects of life, both in this world and in the hereafter. Tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka is one of the relevant sources in understanding this color symbolism, because this tafsir is known for its approach that combines local wisdom and broad Islamic insights. This study aims to analyze the symbolic message of colors mentioned in the Qur'an, namely red, yellow, white, green, blue, and black, with a focus on tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research and analysis techniques in the form of content analysis. The results showed that each color in the Qur'an has a symbolic message that varies according to the context of the verse. The red color reminds of the greatness of Allah and the awesomeness of the Day of Judgment, the white color reminds of the power of Allah, the black color warns of destruction for the disbelievers, the green color reminds of the pleasure of heaven, the blue color reminds of the consequences of bad deeds while in the world and the yellow color gives a message about the transience of the world. Buya Hamka explains the symbolization of color as a means of contemplating the greatness of God so that people can understand religious teachings more deeply. This research contributes to the treasures of tafsir, especially in understanding color symbolism in the Qur'an as a means of divine communication.
