Abstract

This study examines the influence of GRDP per capita, economic inequality, poverty depth index, and average years of schooling on crime rates in East Java Province during 2019-2022. The data analysis tool used in this research is panel data regression analysis with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach as the best form of estimated model. The results show that GRDP per capita has a negative and significant impact on crime rates, economic inequality has a positive impact and does not have a significant impact. The Poverty Depth Index variable has a negative and significant influence on crime. The Average Years of Schooling variable has a positive and significant influence on crime. The highest crime rate is owned by Sampang Regency, while the lowest crime rate is owned by Madiun City.
