Abstract
Physical fitness is an individual's ability to perform activities without experiencing fatigue. An individual is considered physically fit if they can meet the demands, capacity, capability, and endurance required to engage in activities without significant exhaustion. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health (2018), the level of physical fitness among adolescents in Indonesia is quite concerning. Based on the Riskesdas survey, 33.5% of Indonesians aged ≥10 years had low physical fitness, and in 2018, approximately 49.6% of adolescents aged 15 to 19 were recorded as having poor physical fitness. Several factors influence physical fitness, including genetics, gender, age, physical activity, smoking habits, and nutritional intake. This study aims to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and Hemoglobin Levels with Adolescent Physical Fitness. This research employs a quantitative approach using a correlational study with a cross-sectional design. The participants were students aged 13–16 years from SMPN 5 Banjar. The Gamma correlation test between BMI and physical fitness yielded a p-value of 0.119, while the Gamma correlation test between Hemoglobin Levels and physical fitness showed a p-value of 0.000. The ordinal logistic regression test identified hemoglobin levels as the determining factor influencing adolescent physical fitness. Conclusion: It can be concluded that among the two independent variables, only one showed a significant relationship, with hemoglobin levels being the most influential determinant of adolescent physical fitness.
