Abstract

Cats as pets are often a source of comfort for their owners. However, irregular feeding, especially when the owner is not at home, can cause health problems such as obesity or digestive disorders. In addition, the mismatch of food types with weather conditions can worsen health risks, such as dehydration in hot weather or lack of energy in cold weather. The purpose of this study is to design an automatic feeding system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) that can adjust the type of food to weather conditions. This system uses NodeMCU ESP32 as the main controller, DHT22 sensors to monitor temperature and humidity, and HX711 loadcell modules to weigh the feed. Servo motors are used to control feed dispensing, while the Blynk application allows remote control via smartphone. When the temperature is above 30°C, the system will dispense wet food, while at temperatures below 30°C, dry food is given. The test results show that this system works with high accuracy in reading temperature and humidity data and is able to control feeding as needed. Testing also showed an average error rate of 4.14% for the loadcell sensor and 1.12% for the DHT22 sensor for temperature and 0.88% for humidity for the DHT22 sensor. With the notification feature via the Blynk application, owners can find out the time, type, and weight of food given, so that this system not only improves efficiency but also the welfare of cats through more regular and appropriate feeding.
