Abstract
Manual use of pesticides on chili plants has several serious risks, such as poisoning farmers due to direct contact with pesticides, as well as damage to plants during the spraying process. This research aims to develop an automatic pesticide spraying system that can reduce this risk while increasing farmers' work efficiency. The system is designed using Arduino Uno as the main controller, RTC (Real Time Clock) DS3231 as a spray timer, a relay driver to control the water pump, and an LCD to display system status information. The research method includes several stages, namely literature study to understand Arduino components and programming, collection and selection of required components, system design and assembly, tool testing to ensure function according to schedule, analysis of performance data, and preparation of reports. The system is set to carry out scheduled spraying every Monday at 08.00 am. Test results for one month show that the system can function according to the specified schedule with efficient power consumption. Testing was carried out for four weeks with consistent power 2 consumption results, namely 176 watts when the pump was on and 0 watts when the pump was off, with total operational costs of IDR 254,144 per month. Thus, this automatic spraying system has been successfully designed and can lighten the workload of farmers in applying pesticides to chili plants at affordable operational costs. This system can be further developed by adding IoT components for monitoring via smartphone, vibration sensors for pest detection, as well as alternative power supplies such as batteries and solar panels for use in locations without electricity.
