Abstract

High-risk pregnancies can endanger the health of both the mother and the fetus, contributing to the high Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Central Java. Quality Antenatal Care (ANC), including the K6 examination, is essential for reducing MMR. Factors such as pregnant women’s knowledge and exposure to health information are known to play a significant role in improving ANC compliance. This study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge and exposure to information about high-risk pregnancies and ANC compliance at Gambirsari Community Health Center. Using a cross-sectional design, the study involved 116 respondents selected through accidental sampling. The respondents were pregnant mothers in any trimester who had a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) handbook. Chi-square analysis showed a relationship between knowledge of high-risk pregnancies (p-value> 0.002) and exposure to information (p-value> 0,003) with ANC compliance. It is concluded that mothers with good knowledge and frequent exposure to information are more likely to comply with ANC. Additional health education, especially regarding high-risk pregnancy and danger signs, from various credible sources is expected to help pregnant women understand pregnancy risks and the importance of ANC check-ups, ultimately contributing to reducing pregnancy and childbirth complications.
