Abstract
The increasing use of motorcycles in Indonesia has led to a significant increase in air pollution due to exhaust emissions. The development of automotive technology leads to efforts to control the impact of exhaust emissions, one of which is the use of the Air Induction System (AIS), as a clean air enhancer in exhaust gases. This study aims to determine the effect of AIS modification on exhaust emissions on 110cc motorcycles. This research focuses on the impact of AIS modification on carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbon (HC), carbon dioxide (CO2), and oxygen (O2) emissions using without AIS, Standard AIS with modified AIS. The research method was carried out through literature studies and field studies, including testing standard and modified AIS with Pertalite and Pertamax fuels against CO, HC, CO2, and O2 gas emission levels. The research was conducted at the Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering Laboratory of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. The research procedure includes the preparation of tools and materials, installation of variations, and data collection. The results showed that the AIS modification reduced CO emissions by 0.72%, HC by 42 ppm, and O2 by 0.98%, but increased CO2 emissions by 0.70%. Factors affecting exhaust emissions on AIS modified engines are engine rotation (RPM), fuel variation, and replacement of AIS using 125cc motorcycle AIS. The use of AIS modified 125cc honda against 110cc honda can increase efficiency in exhaust emissions. This study shows that the use of Pertamax fuel is more environmentally friendly and produces cleaner exhaust emissions compared to Pertalite, especially when combined with AIS modification. The findings of this study provide insights for the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly AIS systems on motorcycles.
