Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the potential and strategies for developing tourist attractions in the city of Surakarta, which include the Surakarta Palace, Mangkunegaran Palace, Taru Jurug Animal Park, and the Sheikh Zayed Solo Grand Mosque. Surakarta is a city with a strong cultural heritage and has great tourism potential, both in the historical, cultural, religious and natural sectors. However, the management and development of this tourist attraction still faces several challenges, especially in terms of infrastructure and promotion. This research aims to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) faced by each tourist attraction, as well as formulating appropriate development strategies. The research approach used is qualitative and quantitative methods, with data collection techniques through direct observation, in-depth interviews with managers and tourists, as well as literature study. Data analysis was carried out using SWOT analysis to evaluate internal and external factors that influence tourism in Surakarta. The research results show that each tourist attraction has great potential that can be developed further. The Surakarta Palace and Mangkunegaran Palace have major strengths in historical and cultural riches, but still need to improve facilities and promotion. Taru Jurug Animal Park has its appeal as an educational tourism destination, but infrastructure and promotion still need to be improved. The Sheikh Zayed Solo Grand Mosque, as a new tourist attraction, has great potential in the religious tourism sector, but still requires wider recognition and improved facilities. This research suggests strengthening infrastructure, digital promotion, human resource training, and collaboration with the private sector to support sustainable tourism development in the city of Surakarta.
