Abstract
Hypertension, known as the silent killer, is at risk of causing Chronic Kidney Failure (CKF). Although it cannot be cured, hypertension can be controlled with medication and a low-salt diet, which requires compliance for a better quality of life. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of compliance with antihypertensive drug consumption and a low-sodium diet in hypertensive patients in the hemodialysis unit. This quantitative research method uses a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 30 respondents taken using the total sampling technique. The instruments used were the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire for drug compliance and a low-salt diet compliance questionnaire combined from 3 instruments, namely Assessment Of Dietary Salt And Sodium Intake, Current Levels Of Salt Knowledge and Assess Sodium Intake. The results showed the level of compliance with antihypertensive drug consumption as follows: low compliance (40%), sufficient (36.7%), and high (23.3%). And compliance with low sodium diet, with categories: choosing low salt foods non-compliant (43.3%) and compliant (56.7%), avoiding the use of sodium-based seasonings non-compliant (30%) and compliant (70%), avoiding sodium-preserved foods compliant (100%), reducing consumption of foods with high salt content compliant (100%), and reducing processed products with sodium seasonings non-compliant (13.3%) and compliant (86.7%). Conclusion: The level of compliance with antihypertensive drug consumption in hypertensive patients in the hemodialysis unit is mostly low and the level of compliance with low sodium diet in hypertensive patients in the hemodialysis unit is mostly compliant in 5 categories.
