Abstract
In the modern world, construction and technology have become essential needs used every day. Metals are very important in daily life and are a crucial component in today's technology. Resistance to corrosion is one of the important properties for a metal, especially for building machines that will interact with their surrounding environment. The purpose of this research is to analyze the results of SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) testing using ASTM E98 on aluminum 6061 after treatment in a closed chamber using carbon powder and Chrom (Cr24) media at a temperature of 450°C with variations of 4, 5, and 6 hours. Based on the research results of the carbon (C) diffusion process on the test sample, namely aluminum (Al), during a 4-hour treatment, the carbon (C) diffusion was 13.167% by weight, then during 5 hours it was 15.965% by weight, and during 6 hours it was 29.254% by weight of carbon (C). The results of the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) test on AlCarbon (C)+Chrom (Cr) show morphological changes in the samples after treatment with variations of 4, 5, and 6 hours. This was shown after the samples were subjected to Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) testing, where in the 4-hour treatment variation, the Chrome (Cr) content was 0.043% by, in the 5-hour variation it was 0.121%, and in the 6-hour variation it was 0.044%.
