Abstract

This research focuses on developing hydrant pumps based on engineering drawings with reverse engineering technology: improving the casting process for cast iron and aluminum patterns. Reverse engineering is a new technology that provides greater business benefits by shortening product development cycles. This technique involves remanufacturing a product based on direct measurements of an existing product. Hydrant pump. The hydrant pump, which is an important component in the fire protection system, is designed using a structured casting pattern and assembly process. This research aims to determine the process of casting spare parts for hydrant pump bodies from cast iron and determine the characteristics of cast iron from the results of testing the chemical composition, hardness and microstructure of the resulting castings. The material used in this research is iron, and this research is only focused on improving the casting process for cast iron and aluminum patterns. The research method used is reverse engineering. It is hoped that the research results can increase understanding of metal casting and contribute to the manufacturing sector, especially in the application of reverse engineering. Thus, this research is able to increase product efficiency and quality through reverse engineering techniques.
