Abstract

Because socio-cultural variety is a natural feature of our country, Indonesia is known as a pluralistic society. Although this diversity must be acknowledged as a valuable asset of the country's wealth, the variety and plurality of ethnicities, languages, customs, and religions also present weaknesses that may lead to conflicts of interest between regions, groups, and ethnicities. One of them is between ethnic Chinese and indigenous people in Surakarta. History records that several social conflicts occurred between these two ethnic groups in Surakarta (Surakarta). However, since the reformation, it is known that the two ethnic groups can live side by side peacefully and can even collaborate in various socio-cultural activities. Therefore, researchers attempt to explore communication patterns of socio-cultural integration between ethnic Chinese and indigenous communities using qualitative research. The data collection technique used was to explore through interviews, observation and documentation for these two ethnic groups to obtain a descriptive picture regarding their socio-cultural integration communication pattern
