Abstract

Language is one of the important aspects in early childhood development, as it is the basis for communication and learning. The role-playing method was chosen because it allows children to learn to communicate actively through fun and interactive simulations of real situations. This study aims to identify how role play can improve children's language skills, as well as the factors that influence the effectiveness of this method. Children who previously lacked active communication, were quiet, lacked confidence, tended to be passive became active and confident in communicating with their friends to express ideas, feelings, ideas spontaneously and voluntarily. The results of the study after the role-playing method were carried out, the child experi-enced a good improvement. This study used a qualitative approach with ob-servation and interviews as the main data collection techniques. The research subjects consisted of children aged 5-6 years at Aisyiyah Sumber I Kinder-garten. The results of the research showed that there was a significant in-crease in children's language skills after implementing the role-playing meth-od, thereby increasing children's vocabulary, sentence structure and verbal communication skills. In addition, role playing also facilitates children's so-cial and emotional engagement, which has a positive impact on their lan-guage development. Thus, the role-playing method can be used as one of the effective strategies in language learning for early childhood. To ensure sustained effectiveness, teachers and parents need to be supported in creat-ing scenarios that are interesting, fun, meaningful and relevant to children's lives as well as providing appropriate guidance.
