Abstract
This study examines the communication strategies implemented by the Government of Hulu Sungai Tengah towards the Indigenous Community (KAT) of the Dayak Meratus tribe in Hinas Kiri Village. The limited access to infrastructure, language, and culture in this remote area presents significant challenges for conveying government messages. The research identifies strengths and weaknesses in the applied communication strategies and highlights the need for a culturally-based approach to foster effective relationships between the government and the community. A qualitative method is employed with a case study design, involving interviews with civil servants, the village head, and the Ministry of Social Affairs. The findings indicate that, despite the information access gap, communication strategies involving dialogue with community leaders can enhance understanding and acceptance of policies. This study recommends strengthening partnerships between the government and KAT, as well as the need for innovation in communication methods to achieve successful and inclusive development programs.
