Abstract

Work engagement is one of the important things for nurses in providing services. Work engagement can be influenced by psychological capital and burnout. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of Psychological Capital and Burnout on Work Engagement among nurses in Surakarta City. The respondents for this research were 157 nurses in the city of Surakarta. This research uses quantitative methods. Data collection in this study used the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ-24), Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) scale measuring instruments which were distributed via Google form. The analysis technique used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis technique. The results of this research are that there is a significant influence of Psychological Capital and Burnout on Work Engagement (F= 654.590, p < 0.05). Minor hypothesis I is that there is a positive and significant influence of Psychological Capital on Work Engagement (β= 0.341, t= 25.459, p,< 0.05). The results of minor hypothesis II are that there is a negative and significant influence of Burnout on Work Engagement (β= -0.182, t= -26.924, p, < 0.05). The contribution of X1 and X2 to Y is 89.5% (R²= 0.895). It can be concluded that the three hypotheses in this research can be accepted.
