Abstract
The Surakarta City area is a connecting area between Central Java and East Java Province which attracts many meatball and chicken noodle traders from Wonogiri. This research aims to: (1) examine the social characteristics of meatball and chicken noodle traders from Wonogiri in Surakarta City, (2) analyze the mobility patterns of meatball and chicken noodle traders from Wonogiri in Surakarta City, and (3) examine the factors driving the mobility of meatball traders and Chicken noodles from Wonogiri in Surakarta City. The method used in this research was a survey and interviews with a population of meatball and chicken noodle traders from Wonogiri totaling 50 respondents. The research results show that traders are dominated by men (72%) with an average age of 32 years. The average daily income of traders is Rp. 367,000, while most of them had completed junior high school (42%). Traders' mobility generally uses motorbikes (74%) and the main driving factor is the lack of employment opportunities in the area of origin.
