Abstract

This research aims to know the relationship between peer social support and body image with confidence. This research method used is a quantitative approach with a correlational design. This research population is the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta students by accidental samples in criteria of UMS students ages 18-24 years old. The sample used in this research is 130 students. This research uses peer social support, body image, and confidence. The data analyst used the Multiple linear regression test. This hypothesis of research is the relation between peer social support and body image with confidence. The data analyst's result shows that there is a significant relationship between peer social support and body image with confidence, which was proved by Mark Sig's result r = 0,559. (2-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05. The result of a minor hypothesis test 1 shows that there is a significant positive relation between peer social support and confidence, which result is r = 0,280 and the mark Sig,(2-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05. The result of hypothesis test 1 shows that there is a significant positive relation between body image and confidence, which result is r = 0,226 dan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05. It has proved that major and minor studies in this research are accepted. The effective donation in this research is 31,3%, the peer social support is 12,7%, body image is 18,6%, and 68,7% is the influence of another factor.
