Abstract

Bener Village is one of 20 villages in the Kepil District that is still rich in natural beauty. With its steep hilly topography, this village is not completely deserted. Many people build their houses at the foot of the hill. Both young and old can still be found actively doing activities ranging from meeting daily needs, working in the fields, and doing social activities. Residents often do social activities like organizational activities and common village activities. These activities have been going on for years, in carrying out the implementation, the community still can be found around to hold regular religious studies. They still use one place in a row while the condition of the building is inadequate both in terms of capacity and comfort. This is due to the absence of a meeting room or proper public space in Bener Village. Bener Village has an area of 4.68 km2 with a population of 3,523 people and has not had a good, appropriate, safe, and comfortable public space from year to year. Other issues include the economic and educational conditions of the local community that need to be developed, low interest in reading, and environmental issues related to development. In response to this issue, a public space in the form of a communal area with a sustainable architectural concept needs to be created. This communal space will be built following the provisions of space with sustainable architecture to create and design buildings to form an environment with a positive impact. It is hoped that the design of a communal space with a good, safe, and comfortable design and facilities, can attract residents to revive community life in Bener Village.
