Abstract

The Kuncir sub-watershed is one of several watersheds that flow through Nganjuk Regency. This sub-sub watershed is an important natural resource for the local community, but in recent years its condition has begun to become worrying because every time it rains with high intensity there is always a flood. The aim of the research is to analyze the flooding events of the Kuncir sub-watershed using the 5W1H approach and evaluate Community behavior towards the environment after a flood event. The aim of the research is to analyze flood events in the Kuncir sub-catchment using the 5W1H approach and evaluate community behavior towards the environment after the flood event. The method used by researchers is descriptive analysis using the 5W1H geographic approach, namely what, where, when, why, who and how. The research results obtained were that the flooding of the Kuncir sub-watershed in Nganjuk Regency was caused by high rainfall intensity of around 3000 - 3500 mm/year with very wet criteria and had a flood discharge of 835,751 m3/s. Berbek District is a district that is always affected by flooding every year. The type of flood in the Kuncir sub-watershed is local flooding caused by high rainfall intensity in the area around Mount Wilis, around the source of the Sedudo spring. Flood events occurred between 2019 – 2023. Based on the flood parameters used, namely rainfall, slope slope, land use, land height and soil type. Flood vulnerability in the Kuncir sub-basin consists of 3 classifications, namely low classification, medium classification and high classification. The low classification is in Sawahan District and Berbek District with an area of 18,538.23 ha.Medium classification is in Nganjuk District and parts of Sukomoro District with an area of 4,297.30 ha. The high classification is in Sukomoro District with an area of 6,701.87 ha. Impacts on the environment such as crop failure, loss of livestock, damage to facilities and infrastructure. Evaluation of community behavior after the flood incident included obeying the appeal not to throw rubbish in the river, carrying out clean Friday activities, carrying out river normalization activities, namely by building brojong or strengthening river bank walls, cleaning up rubbish using excavators. Other actions taken include providing rubbish dumps behind each house and burning rubbish.
