Abstract
This research is motivated by the phenomenon of a moral crisis caused by a lack of religious awareness. This moral crisis mostly occurs among school-age children. Many criminal cases, such as inter-student brawls, sexual violence, drug abuse, murder, promiscuity, pornography, and other crimes, are mostly committed by teenagers who are still of school age. Given this phenomenon, moral education must be intensified so that education is not only limited to the transfer of knowledge but also focuses on building strong moral and ethical values in individuals. To address this challenge, SMP IT Smart Cendekia Karanganom, an Islamic-based school, offers education with two class models: the full-day school and the boarding school. SMP IT Smart Cendekia collaborates with Pondok Pesantren Baiturrahmah, which serves as a dormitory for boarding school students, and these two institutions work together to create an integrated Islamic educational environment, with the primary goal of fostering good morals in their students so that they develop noble character. The purpose of this research is to describe the strategies of SMP IT Smart Cendekia Karanganom in fostering the morals of its students, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the moral development efforts. This research employs field research and uses a case study approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and document studies. The research findings indicate that the strategy used by SMP IT Smart Cendekia Karanganom in fostering the moral character of its students is the "Bina Pribadi Islami" (Islamic Personal Development) strategy. This strategy is implemented through methods such as role modeling, giving advice, providing special attention, habituating students to perform good deeds, and applying disciplinary measures. The supporting factors for implementing this moral development strategy include strong synergy between the school and the boarding school, a supportive Islamic environment, teacher discipline and exemplary behavior, as well as parental support. On the other hand, the inhibiting factors include communication issues between the school and the boarding school, student fatigue due to the numerous activities at both institutions, external environmental influences, diverse educational and family backgrounds, a lack of internal motivation among students, and insufficient parental participation.
