Abstract
Among the various cooling systems used on motorcycles, the air conditioning system is often an option because of its simplicity. This system utilizes the fins on the machine to increase the surface area which helps dissipate heat to the surrounding air. However, the efficiency of this air conditioning system is often inadequate in maintaining a stable engine temperature, especially in high load conditions or hot weather to prevent overheating. This research aims to analyze the effect of installing a 5 mm hose air tube on the oil cap and cover valve cylinder head with AIS off condition on torque performance, power, and engine temperature changes on Yamaha Jupiter Z 110 CC motorcycles, compared to standard conditions. The research method involves testing engine performance in various temperature conditions and roller rotation to measure torque, power, and Thermocouple to measure engine temperature. The test results show that the use of a 5 mm hose air tube on the oil cap and valve cylinder head cover with the AIS off condition only increases the motor torque in cold temperature engine conditions, and the installation of the air tube on the oil cap and cover valve cylinder head does not affect the power. At cold temperatures, the highest torque increases from 7,93 Nm to 8,03 Nm, while at hot temperatures it decreases from 8,09 Nm to 7,94 Nm. The power decreased, with cold temperature from 7.1 HP to 7 HP, while at hot temperature from 7.3 Nm to 7.1 Nm. In addition, this modification is effective in lowering the engine temperature, with the highest temperature dropping from 80°C to 70°C in cold conditions, and from 82°C to 74,5°C in hot conditions. In conclusion, the use of a 5 mm hose air tube on the oil cap and valve cylinder head cover with AIS off condition gives an increase in torque performance in cold engine conditions only, and experiences a decrease in power and lowers the engine temperature, which overall cannot increase the efficiency and performance of the Yamaha Jupiter Z 110 CC engine.
